Fortitude Ranch Threat Condition: Elevated, risks of war, bio attack are up
Top Artificial Intelligence Experts warn it is a Threat to Mankind that we probably cannot stop
Usually collapse threats don’t get a lot of headlines, but the host of leading Artificial Intelligence (AI) experts saying that this technology could destroy mankind has indeed gotten publicity. Most of the news coverage would lead you to believe it’s a future, not a present threat. That’s because there is a different way AI can be threatening that is not well covered in the media. The present risk is Russia or China using AI to design an attack to maximize American casualties and minimize theirs. This is far different from AI computers deciding to kill humans—its programmers using AI to come up with attack plans and vectors far more efficiently/brilliantly than humans can. For example, a perfectly timed cyber-attack on the grid along with a brilliantly disguised high altitude nuclear detonation (an Electro Magnetic Pulse EMP attack) that thoroughly destroys our electric grid. This is a clear and present danger, not a future threat.
As to the future threat of bad AI computers behaving badly, most AI experts calling for regulation admit that regulation very likely won’t work, for many reasons. First, if the U.S. and western Europe put the brakes on AI, China and Russia likely would not. Second, as AI is increasingly smarter than us, it will figure out how to overcome the regulations or “fail safe” switches required.
At Fortitude Ranch our policy from day one has been no use of the Internet or computers for anything but marketing, and no requirements for computers or any high tech to operate and survive. Even our off grid solar systems (we never connect our solar systems to the grid) are not vital to us, or our propane and gas generators. If there is no electricity, we’ll be fine with our wood stoves, oil lamps and campfires. If armed robots come, we have a lot of staff and members with weapons, including 50 caliber rifles.
Another World Health Organization Pandemic warning
The World Health Organization again issued a warning that pandemics far worse than Covid-19 are coming. After declaring the Covid-19 emergency, over, the WHO Director warned that “the threat of another pathogen emerging with even deadlier potential remains.”
The only surprising thing is why the WHO and CDC do not openly warn the public that bioengineering makes it easy for a terrorist group or even one dedicated individual to modify a virus like H5N1 to make it more contagious or more lethal. Experts have testified before Congress with this warning and published hundreds of articles about the inevitable misuse of both bioengineering and gain of function research, but official public health agencies apparently can’t acknowledge that government funded research is the source of these new threats.
Expect Russia to clandestinely release an H5N1 Pandemic in U.S., West Europe
The biggest risk of a 60% lethal H5N1 pandemic is a clandestine Russian release of this virus in the U.S. and West Europe.
A year after their invasion of Ukraine, Russia continues to issue statements that US-funded biological research laboratories are continuing to operate in Ukraine. This is very probably a lie, but the fact that Russia keeps promoting this claim suggests that they see great value in the message. Why?
The most logical explanation is the one this newsletter has been warning about for a year now—they are laying out the case to blame a disastrous human to human contagious H5N1 pandemic on the U.S., planning to clandestinely release such a virus in the U.S., West Europe, or the Ukraine to devastate all their enemies in a manner that cannot be traced or blamed on Russia. With the continuing publicity of U.S. “gain of function” research and Russia’s repeated claims that such dangerous research was and still is being conducted in the Ukraine, some will blame the U.S. for what would likely be the worst disaster in human history.
I covered the then Soviet Union as an intelligence officer, and their long history of bio weapons programs and the absolute ruthlessness of Vladimir Putin makes this not only a plausible, but a likely rationale for these continued claims of dangerous U.S. funded bio weapons research in Ukraine. Russia is losing the war in Ukraine and Putin could lose his life, not just his reputation and power, if he doesn’t turn it around. A secret release of a deadly virus is an ideal way for him to end all support for Ukraine, win the war there, and save his life and reputation. Russia and every country around the world will close borders when the virus is spreading, and they may have a vaccine ready to go to prevent infection for Russians and their allies. A double-digit lethality virus, even if far below the historic 60% lethality of H5N1 in humans, will kill not just hundreds of millions of Americans and West Europeans and Ukrainians, but cause a collapse that leads to far higher levels of casualties. Putin, Russia, and their allies can emerge from the disaster in a year or two as the clear superpowers, the U.S. a crippled nation no longer able to project power and check rivals.
Anyone who thinks Vladimir Putin isn’t smart and ruthless enough to pursue such a monstrous course of action, does not know either Putin or Russian history. There is no better historical example for ruthless “ends justify the means” thinking than Russia and their ruthless leaders. Very few Americans would correctly answer the question—who killed more innocent people, Stalin or Hitler? The answer, not even a close competition, is Stalin, by about ten million more victims. But the clear winner in the most ruthless killing for power contest is China’s Mao Zedong with 40 to 70 million. For Russia and China, the loss of tens of millions of their own citizens, not just foreigners, is an acceptable price to pay for achieving their goals of empire and control. Russia invaded Poland in 1939 in a secret agreement with Germany. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year was likely part of an alliance deal with China, helping them pave the way for an invasion of Taiwan this year or next. In addition to Russian government officials condemning alleged U.S. bioweapons labs in Ukraine, China’s Ministry of Defense has also condemned U.S. bioweapons labs in Ukraine claiming “Previously, many locations of U.S> overseas biolabs saw outbreaks of rare infectious diseases.” China also accuses ethe U.S. Dept of Defense of involvement in Ukrainian biolabs, reinforcing Russia’s claims that this is bio weapons research.[1] A devastating pandemic in the U.S. and West Europe helps China as well as Russia. To the degree the world blames the U.S. for a deadly pandemic and the collapse that results, China will find less opposition to their retaking of Taiwan and expansion in the Pacific.
The failure of the U.S. government to warn its citizens of the risk of a not just possible, but likely clandestine bio attack by Russia (or China, or North Korea, Iran, a terrorist group) and get us prepared to survive a pandemic that could kill most of us is another immoral, criminal act.

Forti-Cabin offers you a private housing option at all Fortitude Ranch Locations
Most Fortitude Ranch members stay in dormitory style rooms, a private, locked bedroom, with neighboring rooms. If you want more privacy, we offer “Forti-Cabin,” a small cabin designed for survival, at all our locations.
Forti-Cabin is designed with a collapse, survival environment in mind. It is placed so the door faces the safe, inside of the defensive compound, with no windows on the “bad guy” side. The windows are up high in the eaves so you can get good cooling air flow and sunlight, but no opportunity for a marauder group to see you inside. The lower 4’ wall on the bad guy side has plate steel sheets in it and solid wood—not fiberglass insulation. It is wood on outside and inside, no drywall, so if there is a bullet sent your way, your family inside should be safe.
Interior design includes a Murphy Bed and bunkbed, so you can sleep up to 5 people in a small 8 x 12 Forti-Cabin (12 x 12 sizes also available for up to 8 members). There is a sink inside, and an outhouse outside. With a small solar system (shared with a neighboring Forti-Cabin) you’ll have electricity for LED lights and outlets. A very small woodstove allows heating in winter and ability to heat water, cook.
Forti-Cabin was designed for quick assembly in a collapse (using 4 x 8 sheets of wood and material that largely needs no cutting, ready to assemble). The model Forti-Cabin at Fortitude Ranch Texas is erected, but because an increasing number of rural counties are unfortunately going “Big Government” with more regulations on your private property, we will not erect Forti-Cabins at most FR locations until a collapse occurs. The pad (treated lumber) will be installed and all the material and furnishings purchased, laid down on the pad and securely covered. With the surge in manpower in a collapse, Forti-Cabin can be quickly erected.
