Great Staff
Our Ranch Manager served as a medical corpsman in the U.S. Navy, and then with a major intelligence agency, with deployed service with special operations forces. Assistant Ranch Managers have a variety of technical and people skills to ensure our community stays safe, healthy, and happy. Our guard dogs, Frodo and Mandalorian, are threats to coyotes and marauders, but best friends for our members.
Beautiful Location
Fortitude Ranch Colorado is tucked in a very private valley (no highway within many miles of us) in the forested mountains of Colorado. In good times, you won’t find a better place to vacation and recreate, hike and hunt. Visiting in Sep/Oct is a must do to experience “elk bugling” (male bull elk compete for females by making a loud wailing bugle). Even if this is not your “home fort,” all FR members can visit all locations to vacation for free—so plan on visiting to enjoy the beautiful scenery here and visit the Great Sand Dunes National Park, Mesa Verde, Pikes Peak and many other fantastic parks.
Abundant Natural Resources
The forests surrounding us (and extending for hundreds of miles in the adjacent, remote national forest) contain not just firewood, but food. The camber of pine and fir is an excellent food that the Indians used, and we will as well, mixed with flour ground from the wheat berries we store. The deer, elk, and wild turkey are another great source of food for us.
All the Best Defensive Features of Fortitude Ranch
You cannot hide from marauders in a bad collapse, if you are alive, some group will find you. Fortitude Ranch has guard posts and will cut down trees to clear lines of fire (no cover for an attacking marauder group) and build defensive walls manned by our well armed members. FR Colorado has several guard posts (including ones with shields of alternating wood and sheet metal). Radioactive fallout is no threat because we have an underground shelter and basements in several buildings to shelter members until we can scoop up and cart off fallout.
Huge Variety of Food Sources
Stockpiled food may not be enough for a long duration collapse. We have natural food sources from edible tree cambium, deer, elk and wild turkey. Our chickens and rabbits provide on-going food, with plenty of meadow grass we can harvest in Fall to feed rabbits through the winter while most of our layer hens will turn to meat chickens in the Fall, with chicks grown out through the winter. We have corn, potato and other seeds to plant gardens, both on our property and other fertile land where our guards have overwatch. We also have indoor growing areas for year round plant production.
Meet the Ranch Manager
Larry has 30 years of experience working complex technical and national security problems as an Intelligence Analyst and deployed Liaison Officer supporting direct operations. He’s a U.S. Navy veteran with a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences. Larry deployed with multiple combatant commands during periods of high operational activity assessing and resolving task force priorities and threats. Larry’s recognized as a subject matter expert in Technical Intelligence, Counterterrorism, Threat Assessment and Operational Planning.
