Almost Heaven, West Virginia

Fortitude Ranch West Virginia is surrounded by the George Washington National Forest. A county maintained, paved road, but the highway is on the other side of a ridge—so we enjoy a very private valley. The forests are beautiful, and you can hike all day and not see another person—there are no public trails or recreational facilities for miles near us.

Abundant Natural Resources

The forests all around FR WV contain firewood and many types of food. In addition to deer and wild turkey, the cambium of pine and fir is an excellent food that the Indians used, and we will as well, mixed with flour ground from the wheat berries we store. We have an agreement with a local rancher to take some of his cattle, and our large property currently hosts chickens, rabbits and goats.

Remote Location and Reliable Defenses

Fortitude Ranch WV has guard posts and will cut down trees to clear lines of fire (no cover for an attacking marauder group) and build defensive walls. We have 50 acres of property, but at night or when a marauder group is nearby, our building and guard post compound is just a few acres to defend. Radioactive fallout is no threat because we have an underground shelter and basements in several buildings to shelter members until we can scoop up and cart off fallout.

Multiple Water Sources

Our front fields border a creek with year round water. We have two wells on the property, and a solar system that can power them. We get good rainfall during the growing season.

Beautiful, Bountiful Gardens

FR WV has great soil, and plenty of fields for our free-range chickens and goats (rabbits we keep locked up). We have corn, potato and other seeds to plant gardens, a greenhouse, and can grow plenty of food to sustain our membership long term.

Meet the Ranch Manager

David is a 24-year U.S. Army veteran and retired Chemical Officer who taught nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare defense to military personnel worldwide. Recognized as a weapon of mass destruction expert, David was recalled to active duty after 9/11 and spent 22 months conducting vulnerability assessments on U.S. interests across 16 countries in the Middle East. Retired emergency management specialist for DHS, and has worked with Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, NASA, and U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command, on a nuclear weapons accident response team. David is an expert prepper, who has presented at a variety of preparedness training events.
