Fortitude Ranch Survival Community Threat Update and Newsletter: November 2023

Prepper survey reports on greatest threats we face today

A survey of preppers, who unlike most Americans are regularly watching for indications of a disaster or event that could lead to a “collapse” (economy not functioning, widespread loss of law and order), rated the top threats we face.  Below is a list of the top threats of concern to watchful, prepared Americans, in order of concern (based on their assessment of both likelihood of occurrence, and impact of the collapse that may result):

Unsurprisingly, over half rated loss of our electric grid as a grave, #1 threat.  Vulnerabilities of our grid have been known for decades, but even Congressionally sponsored study teams pleading for hardening the grid are ignored.  Politicians are afraid of losing votes if electricity costs go up to pay for hardening the grid.

Of the top 5 threats, the most unusual is probably 41% listing domestic civil war due to the deep divisions in our country and a potentially violent, divisive Presidential election coming up as a grave, collapse risk.  Those who think a risk of civil war causing a collapse is silly should consider what one of the smartest persons in the U.S. (Ray Dalio, Founder/CEO of Bridgewater, the largest hedge fund) who makes a successful living predicting major events, said.  He believes we face a 30% chance of civil war with our divided population, with a divisive election next year:

The 3rd greatest threat, bioengineering misused to create a deadly virus, cause horrible pandemic, is another huge threat biologists have been warning about for over a decade.  Fortitude Ranch CEO Dr. Drew Miller published a report on this when he worked at the Institute For Defense Analyses, the top Dept of Defense FFRDC (Federally Funder R&D Center, think tank).

Collapse threats from new technologies account for one-third of the top 15 threats:  bioengineering viruses, cyber attacks, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and genetically modified organisms.  One of the risks of nanotechnology is called “gray goo,” self-replicating nanobots released to do something like consume/eat up an oil spill get out of control and spread, consuming all plant life on earth.  Somewhat similar to risk of GMOs—concern that they will spread in natural plants or fish and kill them, cause a worldwide famine and war/collapse.

Americans are somewhat concerned about the war in Ukraine or Gaza escalating to a disaster or collapse that impacts us.  There are many other disasters that could trigger a collapse, hundreds of bad things that could happen and lead to police getting overwhelmed, law and order breaking down.  Fortunately, Fortitude Ranch is designed to handle pandemics, grid down, or any type of collapse disaster.

Beautiful Fall Colors at Fortitude Ranch Tennessee in the Cherokee National Forest

Corral is in for the goats that are coming. Coop is complete for chickens. Gypsy, Tank and Diego are ready to do their jobs as four legged staff providing and protecting livestock and members.

First greenhouse is near complete so we can begin testing the 3 full growing seasons TN provides. Tapping locals and staff for the tried and true crops that will flourish in this forgiving climate.

The rabbitry has also begun. Rabbit are the most amazing livestock in all of creation! 1 breeding trio can produce as much meat per year as 1 cow. They truly breed like rabbits. What is even more astounding is that a trio can be multiplied to more than 10-15x in less than 6 months! They will also thrive on dandelions and vegetable scraps. Important to supplement a diet of rabbit though. They are very lean but this is easily offset with eggs, venison and quality veggies.

Though we are pre-operational we do have all levels of membership available and spartan lodging available now. Member onsite-storage with 24/7 security is in place and if SHTF tomorrow we can and will provide emergency support for our members. Food, water, shelter and security are here and will be sustainable for our current member roster.

Investor opportunities remain, Pioneer member incentives are available and we are open for tours today. There are also remaining Fortitude Village parcels if you see the benefit of your own private acre on the edge of the fort proper.

Want to be able to resurrect your business after a Collapse?  Fortitude Collapse Preparedness can prepare a plan to help your business survive

The majority of businesses will not survive a collapse. Manufacturing plants, warehouses, office buildings, and property that are not guarded will likely be looted and/or destroyed.  Many or most personnel are unlikely to survive a bad pandemic or long term grid down disaster.

Collapse-level risks are not covered in typical business risk management or continuity of operations plans. They deal with “normal,” historic disasters that have triggered relatively minor disruptions and losses. Our future is increasingly one of major Black Swan disasters that could lead to a significant collapse lasting from months to years. Fortitude Collapse Preparedness can help your organization survive, and perhaps even thrive during such events.
