Another major warning of bioengineered pandemics
For decades biologists and Dept of Defense Think Tanks have warned that bioengineered viruses and pandemics are “inevitable,” but still warnings are coming out—and being ignored by Government.
Artificial Intelligence and super computers make it easier for a nation state, terrorist group, or even one dedicated individual to bioengineer a new virus that could wipe out most of mankind. The capability to do bioengineering has been around for over a decade, and it keeps getting easier for bad people to alter natural viruses to make them more transmissible and lethal.
Fortitude Ranch CEO Dr/Col Drew Miller, a former DoD Think Tank analyst and AF intelligence officer, published an article on the bioengineered pandemic threat in leading public policy journal almost a decade ago:
What has Congress or the Dept of Homeland Security done to prepare Americans to survive a real pandemic (H5N1 for example is 60% lethal, not far less than 1% like Covid 19)? Answer: nothing. Other than expansion and improvements at Mount Weather, Site R and the many other survival facilities for elected and top government officials, nothing has been or is being done to help Americans survive a really bad pandemic and collapse.
Could “Directed Energy Weapons” cause Fires?
There have been reports that Directed Energy Weapons (basically lasers) have been used to start fires, including the recent Maui fire. News sources say these reports are nonsense. We have seen no evidence to suggest that Directed Energy Weapons (DEWs) were used to start fires in Hawaii or elsewhere. The Government Accountability Office (a federal agency) has studied DEWs, and reports that they could start a fire:
“If a greater amount of force is required, DEWs can also damage or destroy enemy assets. To do this, a high energy laser can emit electromagnetic energy with a wavelength the target material absorbs most effectively, melting the material. The laser could focus on a sensor and damage a drone, or focus on a fuel tank or battery and destroy it.” – GAO report, Science & Tech Spotlight: Directed Energy Weapons, GAO-23-106717, May 25, 2023
A dedicated terrorist group could indeed start fires not just in forests, but in cities, to try and trigger widespread destruction and possibly a collapse, with many easier, better means to start them than DEWs.

Dr. Roubini predicted the 2008 housing crisis and Great Recession and his research since then has led to this book and warning that we are leaving a “period of relative stability to an era of severe instability, conflict, and chaos.” Dr. Roubini predicts an economic collapse far worse than those we have experienced in the past driven by our out of control debt and a host of bad trends, including a declining workforce, stagflation, and unaffordable entitlement and government socialist programs. Ageing populations, unaffordable social and pension programs, and huge government employee public pension debt present colossal unfunded liabilities. Roubini says these economic problems are “unsolvable.” Add to this mix our divided, increasingly violent population, and there should be no surprise that an economic collapse could lead to massive violence and loss of law and order. China is going to either invade Taiwan, or force their surrender after the U.S. backs down from defending Taiwan (unfortunately probably after China has launched small scale nuclear strikes that hopefully just force the President to back down without taking our grid down and killing most of us).
Of course, most people will ignore these “megathreats” and the reality of our far more dangerous condition. There is no way to stop the economic damage and debt caused by our out of control government, erase the new technologies that enable a small nation state or terrorist group to develop and release a new deadly virus or leverage AI or nanotechnology or new methods to develop nuclear weapons. We must adapt to this new era by adding a far more robust civil defense program than we started to build in the Cold War (and never did have well built—before it was dismantled).

FR TX survival training is Saturday, October 14, 8AM start. AM is classroom survival training (geared towards FR members), afternoon is shooting and “tactical maneuver” and litter (stretcher, wounded transport) exercises outside. Might reverse this if still hot days then.
